2015 Outlook on the Consumer Packaged Goods Industry
As a manufacturer of metal fabrication and machine design for the consumer products industry, Walsh Manufacturing is looking with anticipation to the year ahead and what it will mean for the consumer products industry for manufacturers as a whole. Recently, McKinsey & Company, a global research and information firm, published its findings on the future of the consumer products industry with a report entitled The Decade Ahead: Trends that will Shape the Consumer Goods Industry.
The analysis gathered within the report reflected many of the same things that our company has witnessed over the last several decades of manufacturing such as the importance of custom solutions, value and cost-effectiveness, and evolving consumer desires. Not surprisingly, one of the most prominent trends will be the continued importance of meeting the unique needs and desires of not only the clients one contracts with but also with the needs of consumer markets around the world.
Continued Growth Abroad
McKinsey & Company forecasted that one of the largest areas of growth in the consumer products industry would come from the Asia-Pacific area of India, China and Indonesia. Each of these areas is experiencing an exponential expansion of the middle class population, which will mean more consumers will look to purchase new and innovative consumer packaged goods. The research company estimated that in just five short years (2020), consumers in these areas will be spending an additional $10 to $100 every day on extraneous consumer goods.
Considering that these consumers are from emerging markets, it will be particularly interesting to see what kinds of products do well in these areas and if there will be tweaks of the products that currently exist or if the needs and desires of the consumers will push the consumer products industry as a whole to innovate from scratch.
Custom Solutions for Every Application
At Walsh Manufacturing, we pride ourselves on an approach to manufacturing that is built around creating a custom solution. This is because we believe that there is never a typical customer nor should there be a typical solution. Each application created by Walsh Manufacturing begins with a one-on-one approach that applies custom engineering and fabrication techniques, and cost effectiveness to each machine built.
