Recapping the Precision Machining Technology Show
At the end of April, the engineers and sales staff at Walsh Manufacturing had the opportunity to showcase its parts washing applications at the Precision Machine Technology Show (PMTS). The biennial event, co-presented by Production Machining and Modern Machine Shop, included more than 260 exhibitors and close to 5,000 attendees from around the world.
Held in Columbus, Ohio, the event brought together vendors, educators, students and manufacturing experts who shared their knowledge and experience with all those in attendance. The setting for the international show was especially significant in light of the recently published news from the Cleveland Plus Economic Review. Designed as an in-depth look at the industry, the review forecasted an increase in the state’s economy courtesy of the region’s growing manufacturing presence. Over the next decade, an additional 49,000 jobs are expected to be added within northeast Ohio.
Drawing in the Next Generation
As part of PMTS agenda, students from the area were invited to take part in the final day of the show. During this time, students could walk the show floor, attend the presentations of keynote speakers, and talk to representatives from a number of manufacturing companies. Opportunities such as the Student Day hosted by PMTS are part of an initiative designed to introduce students and their parents to the new face of manufacturing.
This movement profiles the best in manufacturing and highlights the growing role of technology within the industry. The newest generation of manufacturing jobs will require students to have technical knowhow along with a background of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) classes. These new opportunities will also necessitate the acquisition of a range of new partners including the recruitment of complementary skill sets from marketers, accountants, scientists, production technicians, engineers and IT staff, according to Ohio’s Manufacturing Advocacy Network (MAGNET).
A New Level of Collaboration
With two of the largest levels of manufacturing growth predicted in the sectors of fabricated metal product manufacturing and transportation equipment manufacturing, Walsh Manufacturing is excited to share its approach to manufacturing solutions through a problem solving approach with a new generation. With more than fifty years of experience using this approach, Walsh Manufacturing understands first-hand how a spirit of collaboration and a range of professional experiences can result in an outcome influencing how a particular problem is solved from that moment forward. This process includes working with the customer from problem to long-term solution, assuring Walsh Manufacturing customers never receive a “stock” washer or solution to a parts washing problem.
